Dragon Boat Race Festival
Since 1934, “dragons” have been racing in the waters of Penang. Since 1979, Penang has staged the annual Penang International Dragon Boat Festival which has attracted teams from all over the world. In 2004 and 2005, we were honoured to have hosted teams from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand and the USA.
The PIDBF organising committee is hosting the PIDBF Races in May 2006.. Penang will also host the 6th Club Crew World Championships in 2008.
For us, dragon boat racing is all about healthy competition, great camaraderie and lots of good fun in the sun. It is a tradition for us to welcome guests from all over the world. Come join us for the most colourful races in the South East Asia, on a tropical resort island known as the “Pearl of the Orient.”
